The historical centre of the spa town Mariánské Lázně loses attraction for the local citizens. The reason is the strengthening of its mono functionality. The consequence is rising dichotomy in the whole city. To find a solution to reverse it, we focus on the fragmented inner landscape, which is almost in the entire city´s territory. The central idea is to change this landscape to a continual green public space, which is connecting the centre with the suburban area and the landscape behind the town.

Green linear areas divide the city into four parts. Our team focuses on the peripheral southwestern part of the city. Defining the relation between the city and the landscape is our initial idea. For this reason, we try to determine the edge of the city. Inside, we create the structure by working with the smaller neighbourhoods with a specific type of build-up area, the width of the roads, and the system of the public spaces. The borders are always formed by an important street or some natural elements. The former industrial parts are sensibly transformed into residential areas with public infrastructure. We also create a reserve for future development in the areas where we place allotments.

By zonation into parts with different land use, the landscape can get a higher diversity. There is a place for agricultural production, recreational activities, and protected nature. A lot of new pedestrian connections can significantly increase the permeability of the space.
