Competition – 2nd place

Secondary School of Civil Engineering in Žilina, 2010

The project was created for the secondary school students´ national competition, which was organized by Velux company. The task was to create a contemporary family house with some attic space.

While there was no specify location, I decide for an ideal plot in a mild slope terrain. This helps me to create more private space inside the property and it also leds to a natural usage of a slope roofs in the design. The mass of the building has a dynamic shape, and it is growing in the direction inside of the property. The ground floor is offset from the street line.

There is an access from a public space to a semi-covered stair leading up to an entrance door and a garage, which is sunken in the ground. The whole living space is situated above the street level. The shape of the house creates even more intimate space, and all the living rooms are oriented towards it. The façade is a lot glazed with a characteristic sliding shade system.
